What is a Sleep Study?

A Sleep Study is done to diagnose Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and other sleep disorders. As the gold standard in sleep diagnostics, Level 1 sleep studies play a pivotal role in assessing a comprehensive spectrum of sleep disorders. A level 2 follows, which is a full PSG (polysomnograph) study close to the Level 1 study, but without overnight video monitoring that’s done in the hospital. Level 2 sleep studies are usually conducted to diagnose Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

Do I need a Sleep Study?

Determining whether you require a sleep study depends on your symptoms and medical history. If you're experiencing persistent issues like loud snoring, interrupted breathing during sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness or other sleep-related problems, it's adviseable to consult your doctor. They can assess your situation and recommend a sleep study if they deem it necessary. Take the sleep assessment to find out if you should make an appointment to see your doctor.
